ALBERTO COLORNI VITALE

Full professor of Operations Research at the Department of Design, where he is also deputy director.
Currently, he teaches “Foundations of operations research” and “Decision models” at the School of Industrial and Information Engineering. He is a member of the board for the Design research PhD program and of the university commission on teaching technologies.

He was president of METID, methods and innovative technologies for didactics, (http://www.metid.polimi.it) and Rector’s delegate for e-learning and innovation in education. He was president of the online degree in Computer Engineering, of the consortium Multimedia Academic Press, of the Italian e-learning association SIe-L, of the scientific committee of MeglioMilano (an association forthe improvement of the quality of live). He has been consultant or member of the boards of various public bodies: Ministry of Education, Ministry of Work, Lombardia Region and other public agencies. He taught in several universities, including the University of Paris-Dauphine and the Tongji University in Shanghai.

His research interests include: combinatorial optimization (in particular, heuristic methods and bio-inspired algorithms – he is co-author of the so-called Ant System -), environmental assessment, decision support systems and multicriteria analysis, simulation and serious games, models and tools for mobility planning, intelligent transport systems. He has published more than 200 papers on these topics. He was /is responsible for numerous projects: in recent years, Green Move (http://www.poliedra.polimi.it/attivita/mobilita/servizi-flessibili-di-trasporto/green-move/), OptilogMOTUS; for European projects REACTPro-e-BikeBiTiBi.
