GIOVANNA PICCINNO

Architect and associate Professor in Design on the permanent staff at the Politecnico di Milano, Design Department, School of Design.

Investigates and develops theory and projects in the fields of architecture and design, dealing with urban design, spatial design and product design and carrying out applied research.
Part of the research team DHoC – Interior Design for Hospitable City.

Founded (2009) and directs the Spatial Design Teamwork | SDT, International Research Group and Project.
The research-project <100 Virtuous Cities>, developed with SDT, was selected by the Department of Innovation of the Italian Government to attend at Expo Shanghai 2010 < Italia degli Innovatori > and by ADI-Compasso d’Oro selection | 2010.

President/coordinator of the Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree Programmes in Interior Design, 2016.

Coordinator, at the Polimi Design Department, of the Research Section <Design for Environments, Landscape and Mobility_LEM.design >, 2013/2015.

Teaches Interior and Spatial Design at the School of Design, both at Bachelor and at Master level, leading Design Studios.

Professor in various Post graduate courses:

  • Interior Design, coordinated by Poltecnico di Milano & Scuola Politecnica di Milano;
  • International Post graduate course of Urban Interior Design coordinated by Politecnico di Milano             & Escuela Politécnica Superior Universidad CEU San Pablo – Madrid;
  • Brand & Product Management, coordinated by Università Bocconi Milano, Università Cattolica Milano and Politecnico di Milano| Design School.

Supervisor in the PhD School at Polimi in the Doctoral International program in Design.

Coordinator of the ADI Permanent Design Observatory for Compasso d’Oro Award in the Thematic Committee “Corporate Research”, 2009/2015.
